Tiebacks

Tiebacks are anchorage elements that allow one to transfer forces from a surface into the interior, applying tension by means of ropes or steel monobars.

Tiebacks are grouped into three categories: bar, wire and tendons.

TIEBACKS ARE ANCHORAGE ELEMENTS THAT ALLOW ONE TO TRANSFER FORCES FROM A SURFACE INTO THE INTERIOR

The tiebacks are usually used in the following applications:

  • Stabilizing slopes in soil and rock;
  • Supporting walls in deep excavations;
  • Anchoring slabs to prevent buoyancy;
  • Anchoring special structures in soil or rock.

The tiebacks can be temporary or permanent, and these need anticorrosive treatment and protection for each tension element, which is made by individual bore hole.

The head usually anchors a structure and is usually made up of metal parts to secure the tensioned pieces. In most cases, the anchoring bulb consists of cement slurry which adheres to the steel and the ground.
